Gwen Witzel

 Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified

Gwen Witzel is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner who provides primary care to patients of all ages.  She has experience in family practice, urgent care and emergent care and is credentialed in ACLS, ATLS, and PALS.  She has had specialty training in asthma care and women’s health.  Witzel obtained her Master's Degree in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty from UND in Grand Forks in 1997.  In 2009 Gwen Witzel was recognized as the ND Rural Health Provider of the year. This award is presented to a health care clinician whose practice is in rural North Dakota. It is a lifetime service award to a rural health care provider who has unselfishly made an important contribution to their community and area. The award is sponsored by the Center for Rural Health, UND, and School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Gwen had 10 years experience as an RN having worked in the cardiac care unit in Fargo, cardiac and neurology floors in a trauma hospital in Scottsdale, AZ, and staff nursing in all areas at CCMH in Langdon, ND.  Witzel is active in her professional organizations. She is on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners serving as the director of Region 8.  The mission of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners is to: Promote excellence in Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice, education and research; Shape the future of healthcare through advancing health policy; Build a positive image of the NP role as a leader in the national and global healthcare community. She is also on the executive committee for the ND Nurse Practitioner Association. Her hobbies include sports, fishing, quilting, and reading.  Gwen Witzel joined the CCMH medical staff in June 1997.





Elizabeth Sillers

Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified

Elizabeth Sillers is an Nurse Practitioner at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital. Originally from Calvin, North Dakota, she currently resides in Langdon with her husband Jason and twin daughters. She has practiced as an NP for nearly ten years and has a special interest in type 2 diabetes management. Liz graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BSN in 1996 and MSN in 2001. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and belongs to the North Dakota Nurse Practitioner Association as well. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and reading.




Ashton Fischer - Hedger

Physican Assistant - Certified


Ashton Fischer is a board certified Physician Assistant at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital. She graduated from North Dakota State University where she received a BS of Zoology in 2012 and then attended graduate school at Wichita State University where she received her Masters of Physician Assistant in 2015.  Her Physician Assistant training included 14 months in the classroom setting and 12 months in the clinical setting at 11 different clinical rotation sites.  She has extensive clinical experience in family medicine as well as training in several specialties including dermatology, orthopedics, pediatrics, general surgery, and emergency medicine.  Prior to her acceptance into PA school, Ashton worked as a certified nurse aide for 4 years and then worked with children and adults who had disabilities for 1 year.  She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, belongs to the North Dakota Academy of Physician Assistants and Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants, and is certified in ACLS and BLS.  She has a special interest in family medicine, dermatology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and preventive medicine.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family and friends, going to the lake, attending Bison football games, and reading.  Ashton is very excited to move back to Langdon and start providing quality healthcare to her hometown community and surrounding areas.
